The Talents, Attributes, and Gifts (TAGs) of the Temperament
There are nine Temperaments (Types), and each of us is born with one of them. You can’t change your temperament, but you can use it to get the things you want in life.
The Temperaments breakdown into three groups. Which are:
Group 1. Going Toward Life Temperaments
As a child, you were always excited to greeted everyone—even strangers. In the classroom, you like to chat with your neighbors, causing the teacher to rearrange the seating chart practically. And at parties, you always seem to find yourself at the center. You can’t help it; being a social just comes naturally.
Not only will being outgoing ensure that your social calendar is always packed, it’s a Temperament that’s essential for a variety of today’s jobs.
A person’s Temperament can be one of the most influential factors in career exploration and planning. A degree, personal contacts and the professional résumé only suggest your Temperament, Talents, Attributes and Gifts(TAGs). They help you get the job, but to keep a job you need to have certain skills. When you are making career plans, you should think in terms of jobs that match your skills. Skills are developed from Temperament and TAGS.
The three Going Toward Life Temperaments are:
Ø Achiever–Performer
Ø Visionary–Optimist
Ø Challenger–Protector
Group 2. Withdrawing from Life Temperaments
Do you get butterflies at the thought of networking with strangers and secretly pray to get sick so you can avoid such situations? Ever feel like you’re the only person who despises working in teams or dread giving presentations? If so, you’re in good company.
You have company like: Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Steven Spielberg, Katherine Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy, and Albert Einstein. Each of them has been labeled with a Withdrawn Temperament and chances are, if you’ve ever experienced these symptoms, you have it also.
Withdrawn Temperaments make up little less than 30 percent of the population, but they make up a majority of the gifted population. Many highly successful people are thought to have withdrawn Temperament. They are the writers, artists and a lot of the presidents of the United States. To list a few: Ronald Regan, Gerald Ford, Dwight Eisenhower, and Abraham Lincoln
People with Withdrawn Temperaments sometimes get very frustrated working in today’s service-based economy. Fortunately, there are plenty of good opportunities that let people work by themselves and without interruption. If this fits you, you probably have one of the 3 Withdrawn Temperaments which are:
Ø Authentic–Original
Ø Thinker–Investigator
Ø Peacemaker–Mediator
Group 3. Responding to Life Temperaments
Some people are extremely responsible and dedicated. They feel terrible if don't keep their commitments and do what's expected of them. They want people to know that they are there for them. They will sometime made great personal sacrifices for the sake of others, without even knowing it.
If this fits you, you may have the Temperament that responds to life. There are three. They are:
Ø Reformer–Perfectionist
Ø Giver–Helper
Ø Loyal–Skeptic
Some Temperaments all have the same Talents, Attributes, and Gifts (TAGs). For example, all Loyal–Skeptic’s have the TAG of:
DELIBERATIVE
People who have the Temperament of Loyal-Skeptic all the same Gift, Talent and Attribute (TAG). They are careful. They are vigilant. They know that the world is an unpredictable place. Everything may seem in order, but beneath the surface They sense the many risks. Rather than denying these risks, They draw each one out into the open. Then each risk can be identified, assessed, and ultimately reduced. Thus, They are fairly serious person who approaches life with a certain reserve. For example They like to plan ahead so as to anticipate what might go wrong. They select their friends cautiously and keep their own counsel when the conversation turns to personal matters. They are careful not to give too much praise and recognition, lest it be misconstrued. If some people don’t like them because they are not as effusive as others, then so be it. For them, life is not a popularity contest. Life is something of a minefield. Others can run through it recklessly if they so choose, but them take a different approach. They identity the dangers, weight their relative impact, and then place their feet deliberately. They walk with care. They have the TAG of DELIBERATIVE.
But sometime different Temperaments have the same TAGs.
For example:
We see that Bill Clinton has the Temperament of Achiever–Performer. Others see him with the Peacemaker-Mediator Temperament.
We see that Barack Obama has the Temperament of Peacemaker–Mediator. Others see him with the Achiever-Performer Temperament.
Regardless, both have the same TAG. We call it WOO. WOO stands for “Winning Others Over.” This TAG enjoys the challenge of meeting people and getting others to like them. Strangers are rarely intimidating to them. On the contrary, strangers can be energizing. They are drawn to them. They want to learn their names, ask them questions, and find some area of common interest so that they can strike up a conversation and build rapport. Some people shy away from starting up conversations because they worry about running out of things to say. They don’t. Not only are they rarely at a loss for words, but they actually enjoy initiating with strangers because they derive satisfaction from breaking the ice and making a connection. Once that connection is made, They are quite happy to wrap it up and move on. There are new people to meet, new rooms to work, new crowds to mingle in. In their world there are no strangers, only friends They haven’t met yet – lots of them. They have the TAG of WOO.
There are twenty eight Talents, Attributes, and Gifts (TAGs). They are:
